tirto.id - Recount text merupakan salah satu jenis teks dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris yang digunakan untuk menceritakan kembali mengenai suatu peristiwa yang telah lampau atau masa lalu. Recount text bisa berupa pengalaman pribadi, sejarah, atau biografi seseorang.
Recount text biasanya digunakan dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di jenjang SMP dan SMA sederajat. Jenis teks ini diajarkan agar siswa dapat memahami dan menyusun cerita yang telah lampau dengan urutan yang jelas.
Dalam strukturnya, recount text umumnya memiliki tiga bagian dalam yaitu orientation (pengenalan), events (rangkaian peristiwa), dan reorientation (kesimpulan atau penutup).
Tata penulisan recount text meliputi penggunaan past tense (masa lampau), conjunctions (kata hubung kejadian seperti then, after that, before), dan action verbs.
