Seluruh peserta didik yang telah dinyatakan lolos seleksi Penerimaan Peserta Didik Baru (PPDB) 2023 secara resmi akan mulai melaksanakan kegiatan pembelajaran perdana di sekolah barunya mulai 17 Juli 2023.
Biasanya, di hari pertama masuk sekolah 2023 para peserta didik baru akan menjalani kegiatan Masa Pengenalan Lingkungan Sekolah (MPLS) terlebih dahulu selama kurang lebih tiga hari sebelum melangsungkan kegiatan pembelajaran secara normal.
Berkaitan dengan hal tersebut, Dinas Pendidikan di setiap daerah telah merilis ketentuan terkait jadwal hari pertama masuk sekolah 2023, MPLS, maupun jadwal kegiatan lainnya yang berkaitan dengan tiap sekolah di daerah masing-masing.
Kendati demikian, jadwal masuk sekolah hari pertama bisa saja berbeda tiap daerahnya, hal ini bergantung pada kebijakan dan ketetapan Dinas Pendidikan serta pihak sekolah yang menyelenggarakan kegiatan tersebut.
Seperti halnya di DKI Jakarta, awal semester tahun 2023 ini ditetapkan pada 10 Juli 2023, kemudian di Jawa Tengah 17 Juli 2023. Namun, kebanyakan Dinas Pendidikan di sejumlah daerah di Indonesia menetapkan awal masuk sekolah tahun ajaran baru dimulai pada 17 Juli 2023.
Di samping itu, dalam merayakan hari pertama kembali bersekolah, tak banyak para siswa hingga guru menyemarakkannya dengan saling memberikan ucapan dengan tujuan memberikan motivasi dan semangat untuk belajar.
