tirto.id - Girls On Top (GOT) the Beat melakukan debut panggung dalam konser online gratis SMTOWN pada 1 Januari 2022 melalui lagu “Step Back”. Video musik lagu tersebut dirilis di YouTube di waktu yang sama.
GOT the Beat adalah sub unit pertama dari GOT, proyek baru dari SM Entertainment, yang menggabungkan beberapa artis wanita agensinya. Nantinya, unit GOT juga akan melahirkan sub unit-sub unit baru.
Dikutip dari Soompi, GOT mirip dengan SuperM, yang menggabungkan artis dari grup yang berbeda untuk berkumpul dalam proyek grup. Oleh karenanya, GOT kerap disebut sebagai 'SuperM versi cewek'. Namun, GOT tidak sepenuhnya seperti SuperM, lantaran akan ada rotasi line-up.
Adapun para personel GOT mewakili semua generasi Kpop. Salah satu member-nya, BoA, (Kwon Bo-ah) yang saat ini berusia 35 tahun, menjadi anggota paling senior dalam girl group beranggotakan 7 personel tersebut.
Sedangkan, personel paling muda atau maknae adalah Winter (20 tahun), member dari Aespa. Mengenai daftar personel GOT lainnya, yakni Taeyeon dan Hyoyeon dari SNSD, Seulgi dan Wendy dan Red Velvet, serta Karina dari Aespa.
Dikutip dari situs SM Entertainment, kendati telah melakukan debut panggung, GOT baru akan merilis lagu pertama mereka pada 3 Januari 2022 pukul 16.00 WIB.
“Lagu baru GOT the Beat ‘Step Back’ yang akan dirilis pada tanggal 3 Januari pukul 6 sore adalah lagu R&B hip-hop dengan variasi bass dan instrumental yang adiktif,” tulis SM Entertainment.
