tirto.id - Daftar nominasi penghargaan di bidang perfilman Critics’ Circle Award ke-39 telah diumumkan pada Selasa (18/12/2018) kemarin di The May Fair Hotel.
Acara ini akan disiarkan oleh Dover Street Entertainment, grup media yang berbasis di London pada 20 Januari 2019 mendatang.
Critics’ Circle adalah perkumpulan kritikus film Inggris yang sudah berdiri sejak 1913 yang bertujuan untuk melindungi kritik budaya dari sensor.
Ketua Penghargaan Critics’ Circle Award ke-39 Kaya Cline, menyatakan bahwa kritik film didasarkan pada semua film yang dirilis tahun ini. Ada lebih dari 180 judul film yang masuk dalam kategori.
“Anggota kami telah menentang ekspektasi tahun ini dalam pemungutan suara mereka, jadi daftar nominasi musim ini sangat berbeda, termasuk memilih dua wanita untuk sutradara terbaik dan menghormati beberapa pertunjukan untuk kategori lain. Dengan begitu banyak judul yang masuk, mendapatkan nominasi adalah pencapaian nyata,” ujarnya.
Film The Favourite memimpin dengan sepuluh nominasi, di antaranya adalah nominasi Film of the Year, British /Irish Actress of the Year, Actress of the Year, Supporting Actress of the Year, Technical Achievemen.
Sementara itu, film Cold War, The Happy Prince, Roma, You Were Never Really Here mendapat masing-masing lima nominasi. Empat nominasi didapatkan masing-masing oleh First Man dan Widows.
Awalnya, Critics’ Circle merupakan cabang dari Institute of Journalists di Fleet Street dan memiliki ruang kritik dari koran nasional harian sebagai inti dari keanggotaannya. Critics’ Circle memandang kritik sebagai lengan kebebasan berbicara dan unsur penting masyarakat yang sehat. Dari awal yang memiliki sedikit anggota, saat ini Critics’ Circle memiliki 490 anggota yang dibagi antara Teater (117 anggota), Musik (78 anggota), Film (151 anggota), Tari (57 anggota), Seni Visual (47 anggota) dan Buku (40 anggota).
