tirto.id - Daftar nominasi Billboard Music Awards 2021 diumumkan pihak BMA pada Kamis (29/4/2021). Pihak Billboard menjelaskan, para penerima nominasi BMA didasarkan pada interaksi penggemar dengan musik artis, termasuk penjualan album dan lagu digital, streaming, pemutaran radio, dan keterlibatan sosial.
Penghargaan tahun ini didasarkan pada periode tangga lagu 21 Maret 2020 hingga 3 April 2021. Kategori pilihan penggemar tahun ini termasuk Top Social Artist dan Top Collaboration.
BTS berhasil masuk dalam empat kategori nominasi Billboard Music Awards (BMA) 2021, menjadikan rekor baru untuk mereka di acara itu.
Selama tiga tahun berturut-turut, boy group K-pop Bangtan Sonyeondan ini bersaing untuk mendapatkan penghargaan Top Duo/Grup, yang pernah mereka menangkan pada tahun 2019.
Di Billboard Music Award, BTS juga menang atas penghargaan Top Social Artist selama empat tahun berturut-turut.
Pada BMA 2021 ini BTS juga masuk dalam nominasi untuk penghargaan Top Song Sales Artist dan penghargaan Top Selling Song (untuk lagu "Dynamite").
Selain itu, BLACKPINK dan SEVENTEEN juga menerima nominasi Billboard Music Awards pertama mereka tahun ini.
BLACKPINK dan SEVENTEEN sama-sama masuk dalam kategori Top Social Artist, bersaing dengan BTS, Ariana Grande, dan SB19.
Berikutnya, ada penyanyi DaBaby dengan sembilan nominasi di antaranya Top Streaming Song and Top Collaboration. Sementara itu, Gabby Barrett menjadi artis wanita dengan jumlah nominasi terbanyak yakni sembilan kategori.
Ajang penghargaan Billboard Music Awards 2021 ini akan disiarkan langsung pada 23 Mei 2021 pukul 20.00 waktu Amerika atau 24 Mei 2021 pukul 07.00 WIB.
