Lagu “Next Level” dirilis oleh SM Entertainment pada 17 Mei 2021. Dikutip dari situs SM Entertainment, lagu tersebut merupakan remake dari original soundtrack (OST) “Next Level” untuk film Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw yang dirilis pada 2019.
“Next Level” versi aespa terlahir kembali sebagai lagu dance hip-hop dengan rap yang groovy yang diselimuti dentuman bass yang energik.
“Suara mereka yang kuat dan variasi lagunya luar biasa,” pernyataan SM Entertainment dalam situs web resmi mereka.
Tentang aespa
aespa adalah grup musik perempuan (girl group) asal Korea Selatan yang dibentuk oleh SM Entertainment. Terdiri dari 4 personel, aespa digawangi oleh Karina, Winter, Giselle, dan Ningning. Mereka debut pada 17 November 2020 lewat single “Black Mamba”.
Nama grup aespa menggabungkan inisial bahasa Inggris “avatar” dan “experience” dengan “aspect” yang berarti “dua sisi” untuk melambangkan sebuah gagasan: “bertemu dengan diri lain dan pengalaman di dunia baru” seperti dikutip dari Yonhap.
aespa adalah grup pertama SM Entertainment sejak 2016 setelah NCT. Dan, mereka menjadi girl group pertama agensi tersebut sejak 2014 selepas Red Velvet.
SM Entertainment sendiri adalah salah satu agensi Kpop terbesar di Korea Selatan yang telah mengelola grup populer, termasuk girl group generasi pertama SES pada 1990-an.
