Daftar Lengkap Nominasi MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) 2021

tirto.id - Ajang penghargaan MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) 2021 akan berlangsung pada hari Minggu, 12 September 2021. Acara ini akan diselenggarakan langsung dari Barclays Center, Brooklyn, Amerika Serikat.

Pada tahun lalu, acara ini ditiadakan karena pandemi Covid-19. Tahun ini, panitia menegaskan bahwa berkat peningkatan langkah-langkah kesehatan dan keamanan, gelaran tahun ini sudah bisa diramaikan kembali oleh penonton.

"MTV dan Barclays Center telah bekerja sama dengan pejabat negara bagian dan lokal untuk menerapkan protokol terbaik dan melaksanakan tontonan megah yang menyatukan penggemar musik dari seluruh dunia, tentu dengan kesehatan dan keselamatan artis, penggemar, staf, dan mitra kami tetap menjadi nomor satu, prioritas," tulis MTV dalam sebuah siaran pers di laman resminya.

Selain sudah bisa dihadiri banyak penonton, tanggal acara akan jatuh pada satu hari setelah peringatan 20 tahun serangan 11 September 2001. Lebih lanjut, menjelang pertunjukan, MTV akan bekerja sama dengan organisasi nirlaba 9/11 Day yang dirancang untuk "mempromosikan kesadaran dan tindakan" untuk menghormati National Day of Service and Remembrance.

Sementara dalam hal nominasi, sebagaimana dilansir dari Billboard, Justin Beiber “mencapai tonggak sejarah pada tahun ini.” Selain menjadi solois termuda yang mencapai delapan album No. 1 dengan LP Justice baru-baru ini, dan mencapai 100 entri di Billboard Hot 100, kisah suksesnya berlanjut dengan memimpin bidang nominasi untuk MTV Video Music Awards tahun ini.

Bieber telah mengumpulkan total tujuh nominasi, termasuk dalam kategori teratas untuk Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, dan Best Pop. Sementara Megan Thee Stallion mengikuti di belakang dengan enam nominasi, yang sebagian besar berkat kolaborasi "WAP"-nya dengan Cardi B.
